The “Jerry Can” Challenge! I’m starting the blog on this a little late I’m already 5 days into this, but I still wanted to share the experience and blessings that God has allowed me to go through.
What is the “Jerry Can” Challenge? And moreover what’s a jerry can? A jerry can is a 5 gallon diesel gas can, most commonly known from the military. Its the yellow gas cans in the picture ;). The challenge part, is taking one of these “Jerry Cans” and filling it up to your personal ability, in which you can carry it, and then carry the can with you every where you go! Work, school, church, movies, dinner, mall, EVERYWHERE you go! Fully filled the “Jerry Cans” weigh approx. 40lbs.
Why do this? This challenge is part of Living Water, an organization devoted to providing clean water to people all over the world that don’t have the privilege of receiving such. Water related diseases are the 2nd largest killer of children world wide. It’s a more than just a problem, its an epidemic! The purpose of this challenge is to raise awareness of this epidemic as well as Living Water and their ministry.
I’m the associate intern for the college ministry at Second Baptist Church North campus, and a few of us have pledged to the “Jerry Can” challenge for the month of November. My personal “Jerry Can” weighs about 30lbs. This challenge has not only started taking me out of my comfort zone but the people that witness it as well. Due to the expressions that people give me when I pass them by. I’m excited to know that god will be working through this challenge and to see the difference it will make, as well as the addition to my personal testimony!
